Description

The AI for Public Health Professionals certificate provides practitioners with a comprehensive foundation in artificial intelligence and its responsible use across population health, surveillance, policy, and community‑level decision making. Through two connected microcourses, participants first develop essential understanding of core and generative AI concepts, including how models learn, how prompts shape outputs, and how to evaluate ethical, legal, and equity considerations that are especially critical in public health contexts.

Learners then apply these concepts to real‑world public health practice—using AI to support data analysis, surveillance, reporting, program planning, communication, and workflow efficiency across diverse populations and systems. Throughout the program, professionals explore emerging innovations and develop strategies for continuous learning to stay current in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Graduates will be prepared to use AI tools confidently, ethically, and effectively to support evidence‑based, equitable, and impactful public health practice.
