Description

The AI for Social Work Professionals certificate provides practitioners with a comprehensive foundation in artificial intelligence and its responsible use across social services, community practice, and client-centered care.   • Micro-Course 1 - Foundations

    This course introduces learners to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence (AI) and its practical applications across social work practice. Participants will explore core AI concepts, understand how models learn through data training, and evaluate strategies to address ethical challenges in implementation. The course also covers generative AI and the principles of effective prompting, enabling learners to confidently apply AI tools for documentation, decision support, and knowledge management in real-world contexts.

  • Micro-Course 2 - AI Applications for Social Work Professionals  

    This course equips social work professionals with practical skills for using AI tools responsibly and effectively in social work practice. Learners will explore real-world applications of AI across documentation, data analysis, decision support, and workflow integration, while examining key ethical, legal, and regulatory considerations. Building on these foundations, the course highlights how AI can strengthen practice reasoning, support inter-professional collaboration, and enhance lifelong learning. Learners will also investigate emerging trends and strategies to stay informed as the field evolves. By the end, learners will be equipped to adapt confidently and thrive in an AI-enabled professional environment.

Accreditation Statement

Walden University School of Lifelong Learning for the Barbara Solomon School of Social Work, provider # 1892, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/9/2024-9/9/2027. Social workers completing this course receive 3 continuing education credits.
