Description

From my autoethnographic exploration, we will explore a scenario of egregious, unethical, and illegal practices conducted by authority figures, and detail what the ACA code of ethics and NBCC guidelines suggest. Further, we will explore how the gaps in each created moral distress, and how one could still persevere by working through a proposed actionable roadmap to hold authority figures accountable. We will also be looking at impacts of institutional constraints, offer strategies for progress, and highlight a call to action for ACA and NBCC revisions.

What You Will Learn

Upon successful completion of this activity, attendees should be able to:

  • Examine ethical considerations and limitations associated with AI use in counseling.
  • Identify steps that enhance responsible implementation of AI into counseling practice.
  • Determine tangible impacts of AI application on counseling (via case study) and apply recommendations for best practices.
