Dr. Heather Quaile is a board certified women’s and gender health nurse practitioner. She received specialty training in female sexual medicine and vulvoscopy from San Diego Sexual Medicine with sexual medicine physician Dr. Irwin Goldstein. Dr. Quaile has focused her training specifically in integrative gynecology to include menopause, female sexual dysfunction, sexuality and cancer, sex and pregnancy, and integrative/functional medicine. She is also an American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) Certified Sexuality Counselor and a sexual assault nurse examiner providing sexual health education, trauma-informed care, and information to patients of all ages. Dr. Quaile has been working in all aspects of women’s healthcare for over 20 years caring for women of all ages across the health-illness continuum. Her expertise includes peri/menopausal concerns, pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, low libido in women, interstitial cystitis, effects of cancer and cancer treatments on sexuality, pregnancy/postpartum sexuality, female sexual health, trauma-informed care, and human trafficking.
She holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from Loyola University in Maryland, a bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Central Oklahoma, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialty in Women’s Health from Vanderbilt University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Chatham University.
Dr. Quaile is the co-founder/co-director of the Emory University Sexual Health Certificate Program and also maintains an adjunct faculty position at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She has been a member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH) since 2008 and has been designated an ISSWSH Fellow. She is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Sexual Medicine. She received the 2020 Vanderbilt Alumni Award for Clinician of the Year as well as the 2021 American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Georgia Nurse Practitioner of the Year award. She serves on the board of directors and is a journal reviewer for the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH). She also serves as a planning committee member for the annual NPWH/ISSWSH Sexual Health and Vulvoscopy Course for Nurse Practitioners. She sits on the Georgia Human Trafficking Task Force. She is widely published in the field of women’s health and regularly lectures to local and national audiences. She is also heavily involved in legislation and lobbying at the Georgia Capitol on issues affecting advanced nursing practice, human trafficking, and sexual assault.
