Upon successful completion of this activity, you will be able to:
Dr. Joyce Haines served for five years as a grant writer for a state university in addition to writing successfully funded proposals to federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation, Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Education, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Since joining Walden University in 2005, Dr. Haines has taught courses in Leadership, Ethics, and Social Justice; Strategic Planning; and Strategic Context. She earned Walden’s 2019 Faculty Excellence Award in the School of Public Policy and Administration and the 2022 Bernard L. Turner Award for her service as a dissertation committee member.
Dr. Gary Kelsey has developed a deep knowledge of the grant writing processes during his 45 years of successful grant-seeking and grant-making. Serving as a board member of the St. Croix Valley Foundation in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, he directs grant-making efforts as chair of the grants and programs committee. A recipient of Walden’s 2013 Presidential Excellence award, Dr. Kelsey has served at the university for 27 years in a variety of roles from part-time faculty and doctoral residency coordinator to interim dean. He was awarded faculty emeritus status in 2021.
