Description
Nutrition is an essential part of human functioning through the lifespan, from before birth to old age. Good nutrition can make the difference between health and illness and can help ensure children grow and develop to their full potential. At the same time, people today are bombarded with messages from a huge range of sources - the media, friends and family, government, and commercial enterprises - about nutrition and what they should and shouldn't eat. Making sense of this overload of information is key to making good decisions about nutrition. This course will help prepare you to make these decisions for yourself and to guide others in making good nutritional choices.
In this course, you will complete a series of practical assessments that show you have gained the knowledge and skills required for this subject area and then submit your assessments for review by a university faculty member. Upon receiving a passing score you can receive academic credit for the 5-credit Walden course HLTH4320 Nutrition Across the Lifespan.
The credit you will earn from these courses will be counted as “transfer credit” from the School of Lifelong Learning and can be applied to Walden’s BS in Health Studies and other programs. Some institutions may accept this credit, others may not. Walden cannot guarantee the transferability of credit earned through its programs to other institutions. Residents of NY, RI, CT, and ND are not eligible to apply for academic credit at Walden University or receive a transcript from Walden.
