Description

In this course, you will learn about the pharmacological effects of licit (legal) and illicit (illegal) substances that are typically abused (e.g., depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens, and others). You will explore the physiological, psychological, emotional, and socioenvironmental effects of these psychoactive substances.

What You Will Learn

In this micro-course, you will learn to:

Identify the significant categories of addictive substances: depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens, cannabis, and outliers that fit into several groups.
Evaluate the behavioral, physiological, psychological, emotional, and socioenvironmental effects of psychoactive substances on the individual.
Describe the pharmacology of abused drugs and what changes in the brain during the addiction process.
