Managing a project requires more than organization skills. To ensure a project is successfully completed, project managers must understand various characteristics of that project. In this micro-course you will explore these characteristics. You will examine the importance of defining the project’s scope and developing a schedule for project delivery. You will also explore the nature of risk and risk management, and how project performance is assessed.

Kathy Simmons, Ph.D

Dr. Simmons joined Walden in 2003 as a full time faculty member and has served in the position of program director for the B.S. Business Administration and the B.S. Business Administration Dual Degree program with partner universities in Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama. She is currently the program director for the M.S. Project Management, B.S Information Technology, and the B.S. Computer Information Systems. Prior to joining Walden Dr. Simmons had over 20 years experience as a project manager in information technology including positions with IBM as an executive consultant and the Vanguard Group as a systems integration manager. Dr. Simmons is a member of the Project Management Institute and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
